Progress Update (May)

   Posted by: Tobias

I know, I know, it’s way late.  Life has been kind of insane and hellish lately, gimme a break.  It actually wasn’t going to go up until this weekend, but part of why life’s been hectic decided to act up and I thought it’d be better to stay home.

009: Maintain a 96% attendance
…Well…I don’t know right now.  I know I finally got it up to 80, but due to a combination of stupid teachers, illness, and more stupid administrators I’m definitely going to be on probation in June.  I’m looking at possibly doing the fashion show which will give me an extra 30 or so hours, but we’ll see.

072&073: Get back into Kung Fu and Get back into exercising regularly
I finished up my month with the DC Strokes and won’t be going back for the novice season this year.  I can’t justify skipping out on the 10 extra hours a week in senior so it’s going to have to wait until next year.  Instead I’m looking at possibly going back to Kung Fu a couple of times a week.  I’ll have to start over, but I’d imagine it won’t take too horribly long to get back up to at least green belt.  Going back to my brown will take longer, but when I left I wasn’t able to do any brown belt work thanks to medical issues anyway.

092: Reach 10 generations on a Sim legacy
The oldest group of G2 in Tronasé is about to graduate uni.  A couple of them have been paired off, but all with slightly younger sims so we’ll see how long it takes for them to get married and start families.

095: Send 101 postcards on Postcrossing
This one is on hold due to a rather cool “may be completed soon” goal.

099: Get a bigger apartment
Well…maybe.  We don’t get confirmation until today and we’ve always had HORRIBLE luck in terms of apartments we want so I’m not getting excited just yet.  If we do get it I will be insanely happy and better able to complete a few other goals that have been put off due to lack of space.  This is also why the Postcrossing goal is on hold, I don’t want to get postcards sent to the wrong address.

Progress Update (April)

004: Update at least monthly with current status
Doing that now. It’s a bit later, but I’ve been busy as all hell. See Goal #009.

009: Maintain an 85% a 96% attendance at school
First of all, I haven’t had a day off since last Wednesday because I was trying to get my overall attendance up to 80% by this coming Wednesday. Meaning I had to give up my three day weekend to take extra classes AND I’m missing my partner’s family reunion. See here for the details. Now, as if that all wasn’t bad enough, I’ve just found out something. An 80% is the minimum attendance we’re allowed to have to avoid getting bitched at, but we need a 96% in order to prevent going over our contracts. Would’ve been nice for someone to have told me this six months ago. So now I’m upping that number and working my ass off to pad my hours until I’m at at least a 96%. Preferably higher so I can still go camping in July.

015: Decide on if I want to specialise in cutting or colouring or not specialise at all
Done. See the update.

066: Find a decent farmer’s market
I’ve been going to Eastern Market in DC for the past few weekends. It’s pretty good, but I think I’m gonna check out a few of the others when they start opening up in late April/early May.

084: Buy and watch the season DVDs of Roswell and Veronica Mars
Roswell down. There was a sale at Best Buy so K went and bought the two seasons we needed. Haven’t started watching S3 yet, but only because we got sidetracked by QAF and Gilmore Girls…again.

091: Complete my Pokédex
I completed the Sinnoh Pokédex on 26 March after way too many hours of game time. I now need to catch all of them and see all of the other 200 odd pokémon, but it’s a nice step forward.

095: Send 101 postcards on Postcrossing
I haven’t actually sent many this month. I got busy and lazy and annoyed that I was sending almost literally twice as many as I was receiving so I took a break. I’d like to get back into it though so hopefully I can remember to look up the addresses I need now that I don’t have K to distract me.

Progress Update (March)

   Posted by: Tobias

004: Update at least monthly with current status
Ok, I’m a week late. Sue me, life’s been busy.

009: Maintain an 85% attendance at school
Um. This has been a bit of a problem. January was shot, February probably was as well, and I’m not looking so great in March. If I don’t miss ANY more days this month I’ll probably be ok. I’m hoping that happens because this next week is intense and after that we start the cutting module which is what I’ve been looking forward to forever.

026: Go to Ireland
K got a promotion and a raise so we’re thinking of hitting up London and Dublin this September. I’m vastly homesick so it’ll be a good way to see my chosen family and get in a goal as well. With this will probably come #030 (Get a Claddagh ring in Ireland), but not #031 (Get an Aran sweater from the Aran Islands) just because if I’m doing an Ireland tour I want it to be at least a week long and this trip will only be two weeks total.

067: Get back into cooking
Thanks to everyone who helped me with this, I started cooking for a week straight…and then school got hectic. I still cook at least a couple of times a week though and K has started liking food (amazing) so when things settle down I’ll do it more often.

091: Complete my Pokédex
Geeky, I know. I’ve been playing Diamond since it came out though and I’ve yet to even finish the base plot. I’m at a little over 110 right now and there are…a lot…to go. So I’ve been playing during my lunch breaks as a way to relax between the endless number of roller sets I have to do.

095: Send 101 postcards on Postcrossing
So far I’ve sent 19 cards. Five to Finland, three to Germany, and one each to Australia, Austria, Belarus, China, Japan, the Netherlands, Portugal, Switzerland, Connecticut, and Pennsylvania.

099: Get a bigger apartment
Along with that promotion and raise K got comes with the ability to get a bigger place. We’re looking at a few closer to school, but so far the search has kinda failed. On the up-side, if we manage to get one, most come with pools and fitness centres. I could REALLY go for a pool. And a puppy.

Most of my goals have been put off this month due to an over abundance of school projects. With any luck I’ll get back into things when I’m down to just one massive cutting project for the month. Not likely, but a boy can dream.

Progress Update (and new website)

095: Send 101 postcards on Postcrossing
So far I have sent nine cards and have five more travelling towards their destinations. I’ve only gotten two back which is rather disappointing, but hopefully the rest will catch up.

The countries I have sent to are the Netherlands (01), Finland (04), Japan (01), Germany (03), Portugal (01), Austria (01), USA (01), China (01), and Australia (01). I’ve received cards back from Portugal (01) and the USA (01). I’m actually amazed I’ve not gotten one from Estonia yet, that seemed to be the big one back when K was participating.

If anyone’s interested in seeing the cards I get back, I’ve set up a subdomain to keep track. Check it out at postcrossing.kolyafloit.com. You can also see my Postcrossing profile which has some of the cards I’ve sent out.

021: Learn Esperanto
I got my first lesson from Esperanto USA today. I have to do the lesson and then mail it out, but with any luck I’ll get a chance to do that tomorrow between practicals. Along with reading the Torah as I blanked on it until today. Whoops. There’s a local Esperanto group that I’ve joined, it seems pretty active so I may get a chance to hang out with some other speakers. I may also join the official USA group, but it’ll have to wait until there’s spare cash.

095: Send 101 postcards on Postcrossing
I sent out the first five today so there’s only 96 to go. I can’t get another five addresses until those five are cleared on the site meaning I probably won’t have them for another week or so. I sent one to Germany, one to the Netherlands, one to Japan, one to Portugal, and one to Finland. Two of those were bear postcards and three were DC ones. I almost sent all of them bear cards, but then I realised that it wouldn’t be the best idea to send a postcard of the WWII memorial to people in Germany and Japan.
